Financial assistance awards are made on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Established need is determined through the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) provided by the School & Student Services. Application for financial assistance is made through the Office of Admissions.
Salem Academy has a limited number of academic scholarships to be awarded each year. Students are automatically considered for these scholarships when they make application to Salem Academy. There is no separate form to complete in advance. Scholarships are based on a student’s academic record, her standardized (SSAT) test scores and her activities.
The primary responsibility for financing one’s education rests with the student’s family. We realize the various financial demands that families face today, and we will work closely with each family to find the best possible solution.
In order to be considered for need-based financial assistance, your family will need to complete the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) through School and Student Service for Financial Assistance (SSS). Find the PFS Form online. Our school code for SSS is 7048. To better understand the PFS and how the Office of Admissions reviews your documents, we encourage you to read “Understanding Your Family Report”.
You must also send a copy of your 2018 tax return to the Office of Admissions at Salem Academy or upload them to SSS. Upon receipt of both of these items, the Financial Assistance Committee will evaluate the needs of your family and make a financial assistance award. Financial assistance is awarded on a first come first served basis. Financial assistance awards are reevaluated each year. Each family must file a new PFS form each spring.
Salem Academy accepts the Opportunity Scholarship. Families should apply when the program opens on February 1; the priority deadline is March 1. The application will close on August 1 preceding each school year. A family who receives the Opportunity Scholarship will have access to that award for their entire time at Salem Academy, barring any unforseen changes to the program.
Legacy Scholarship: The Admissions Office will award a $500 legacy scholarship to any current or prospective student whose grandmother, mother, aunt, or sister attended Salem Academy or College. Please notify us if your daughter is eligible for this scholarship
Referral Award: For current families who refer new families to Salem Academy, there will be a $1000 referral bonus applied towards tuition. Qualifications include (1) the family must be new to Salem Academy, (2) the new family must notify us of your referral, and (3) the new family must pay their deposit and registration fees. This bonus will be applied to the 2019-2020 school year and is awarded per family referred.
Payment may be made by either personal check (payable to Salem Academy) or Salem Academy has partnered with Flywire to streamline the international payment process. Flywire allows parents to pay securely from any country and any bank, typically in your home currency.
*Financial assistance awards are made once a student has been accepted. A limited number of academic merit scholarships are also awarded on a competitive basis.
